Here we go again…
Earlier this year, the FDA and CDC issued warnings about two OTC artificial tears being contaminted with drug-resistant bacteria. In fact, these drops led many people developing infections, four deaths, and four eyeballs having to be removed.
Last week (August 22, 2023), the FDA issued yet another warning about potential contamination of two OTC products.
The two drops in question are “Dr. Berne’s MSM drops 5% solution” and “LightEyez MSM Eye Drops”. The FDA found that the two products were contaminated with either bacterial or fungal microbes and were not sterile. The FDA adds that using these drops could lead to minor to vision- threatening to life- threatening infections. If you have any of these products, they shoud be thrown away immediately.
