The end of 2021 was a busy time for the FDA, as they approved 2 more novel prescription medications for eye care.
The first was Vuity, which is a once daily drop for the treatment of presbyopia (a fancy word for “getting older and can’t see up close anymore). The target age is mid 40’s through late 50’s. The benefits start in as little as 15 minutes and can last up to 6 hours.
In addition, Tyrvaya also came to market in late 2021. This is a nasal spray for the treatment of dry eye signs and symptoms.
It’s an exciting time in the eye care world, and I’m curious to see how these two medications pan out.
